Firestone Tire Recall

For months, consumers in Pennsylvania and across the country have had questions and concerns regarding the problems attributed to certain Firestone brand tires in the United States and overseas. From the first day of this recall, my office has been in contact with Firestone executives, as well as officials at Ford Motor Company, to ensure that all steps are being taken to ensure the safety of consumers in Pennsylvania affected by the recall.

On November 8, 2001, a lawsuit and settlement with Bridgestone/Firestone, Inc. was announced to resolve Consumer Protection Law violations and other legal claims brought by the state Attorneys General against the company. This settlement bars Bridgestone/Firestone from engaging in certain conduct and requires the business to institute new reimbursement procedures to address consumer complaints stemming from the recall
